Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski, one of today’s finest exponents of the central German repertoire, has recently recorded a prize-winning disc of Schumann solo piano works. Here he joins Sir Antonio Pappano in Schumann’s great concerto, inspired by his love for Clara, in between a symphony by one of Poland’s most eminent composers, whose centenary is celebrated this year, and an autobiographical tone-poem by Richard Strauss, born 150 years ago.
