On 13 June, the London Symphony Orchestra presents an evening with a difference. Forget what you think you know about classical concerts: Rites of Passage gets to the core of what makes witnessing an orchestra so heart-stoppingly exciting.
If you’re new to the symphonic soundworld, or just looking to shake up the traditional take on concert going, this evening at the Barbican, featuring extracts from Verdi operas, Beethoven symphonies and Stravinsky’s The Firebird, and presented by the award-winning Rachel Leach, will deliver in spades.
The LSO is joined by young East London musicians from the LSO On Track Next Generation scheme, who will present their own spin on Beethoven, as well as the dynamic, 100-strong LSO Community Choir.
A truly intergenerational event, with young musicians and community groups performing alongside world class professionals, this musical spectacle will enthral all ages. Rites of Passage celebrates everyone’s musical journey, whether they’re just embarking or have scaled to the highest heights, and reminds us that experiencing incredible live music can be a transformative rite of passage for us all.
