LSO St Luke's
LSO Discovery Day: Schubert
Overview

Schubert
Find out more about the life and music of Schubert with access to an LSO rehearsal and a chamber music session with LSO players.
10am-1pm, Barbican Hall
Bernard Haitink joins the LSO to rehearse Schubert's 'Great' Ninth Symphony. You will also get to hear Purcell's Chacony in G minor, and Mozart's Piano Concerto No 20 played by Maria João Pires.
Unlike our Open Rehearsals, as part of the Discovery Day experience audience members have the opportunity to observe the conductor and Orchestra from the stalls, giving a unique and more intimate insight into the workings of an LSO rehearsal.*
2.30- 5.30pm, Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke’s
Talk by BBC Radio 3 presenter and Guardian music journalist Tom Service on the life and work of Schubert, paying particular attention to the Schubert's Ninth Symphony, and the 'Trout' Quintet, followed by a performance of the latter by LSO players Rhys Watkins (violin), Malcolm Johnston (viola), Daniel Gardner (cello), Tom Goodman (double bass), and John Alley (piano).
All events are subject to change without prior notice
*Please note that the conductor may choose to not use the full rehearsal time.
Tickets: £16 (£12.50 concessions). Afternoon from 2.30pm: £10 (no concessions)
