Valery Gergiev
Principal Conductor
After the triumph of the complete Prokofiev Symphonies cycle in the 2004 Centenary year, Valery Gergiev was appointed Principal Conductor and took up his post in January 2007. It was one of the most talked about conductor appointments in classical music – Gergiev is one of the world’s most electrifying musical personalities.
Daniel Harding
Principal Guest Conductor
’My little genius’ is how Claudio Abbado referred to Daniel Harding when he was Assistant Conductor at the Berlin Philharmonic over ten years ago. Now firmly established as Principal Conductor of two orchestras in Europe, Daniel joins Michael Tilson Thomas as the LSO’s Principal Guest Conductor, bringing his explosive energy, charisma, talent and adventurous programming.

Principal Guest Conductor
A Bernstein protégé, MTT came to the Orchestra as Principal Conductor in 1987, bringing with him his brilliantly devised thematic concert series and his Discovery concert lectures. He subsequently became Principal Guest Conductor and conducts the Orchestra every season.
André Previn
Conductor Laureate
Principal Conductor of the LSO from 1968–1979, André Previn presided over the Orchestra during what have become known as the 'glamorous years'. Charismatic, youthful and showbizzy, he brought the LSO to the masses through André Previn's Music Night. Now he brings his years of experience to his position of Conductor Laureate, appearing with the LSO each season.
Alexandre Bloch
Assistant Conductor
The position of Assistant Conductor is awarded to the winner of the biennial Donatella Flick Conducting Competition. Alexandre Bloch was the winner of the 2012 competition.
