Sir Colin Davis awarded Order of the Dannebrog

Congratulations to LSO President Sir Colin Davis, who was bestowed with a Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog on Friday 25 May 2012.

The decoration is presented to those who make a special contribution to the public, the arts and sciences in Denmark, and is one of the oldest orders in existence. Sir Colin Davis was honoured this for his recordings of Nielsen's symphonies, recorded with the LSO in 2011.

The award was presented at a ceremony at the Danish Embassy hosted by the Danish Ambassador Ms Anne Hedensted Steffensen.

At the same ceremony, Christopher Riopelle, Curator of Post-1800 Paintings at the National Gallery in London, was bestowed with the decoration of Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog.
