Primary Key Stage Concerts
LSO Schools Concerts are designed especially for Key Stages 1 and 2, which take place each term at the Barbican Centre. Each concert features the LSO and is presented by an LSO Animateur.
The programmes include interesting and lively repertoire, as well as a participation song written especially for each Key Stage Concert. Teacher INSET sessions are included in the ticket price. They are held around six weeks before each concert and are highly recommended and very popular. At the INSET, teachers are introduced to specially written classroom projects, extension tasks, and learn the best and easiest ways to teach their children the participation songs. Teachers also receive a Project Pack, recordings of the participation songs, and help preparing their children for the concert.
Key Stage Concert booking now takes place by email. Please email email@example.com with your school’s contact details if you would like to be added to the booking mailing list.
Key Stage 1 Concerts - Spring term
The Chimpanzees of Happytown - Tuesday 24 & Wednesday 25 February 2015: 11am and 12.10pm
This term’s KS1 concert is based on the popular book by Giles Andreae – ‘The Chimpanzees of Happytown’. Featuring specially composed music by our very own presenter, Paul Rissmann, and Guy Parker-Rees’ fantastic illustrations projected on screen, come along and find out how Chutney the chimpanzee manages to transform Drabsville into Happytown!
We are trialing a new approach to INSETs and are asking teachers to attend sessions targeted for either music specialists or class teachers (non-music specialists) to offer a more relevant experience. Please indicate which session your school will be attending on the form. If you need to update this information at any point, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Key Stage 2 Concerts - Spring term (sold out)
Viva España! - Monday 9 March 2015; 10.40am and 12pm.
This March we’re throwing a fiesta to have fun with all things Spanish. Bring your castanets and hear classic tunes from Bizet’s Sevillian opera Carmen, de Falla’s El sombrero de tres picos (that’s ‘Three Cornered Hat’ to you and me) and Rimsky-Korsakov’s glittering Capriccio Espagnol. Join presenter Rachel Leach and the London Symphony Orchestra in performing a new participation piece – but will Rachel have brought her flamenco outfit?
The Key Stage 2 Spring term concerts are now sold out. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email email@example.com.
If you have any questions about the concerts or the status of your application, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
