Gianandrea Noseda returns for his second programme of the season in Mahler’s epic Sixth Symphony, with its tragic 'hammer-blow' ending perhaps anticipating the blows of fate which would shortly befall the composer. The German-Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott, a virtuoso product of the Salzburg Mozarteum and herself a child prodigy, is something of a Liszt specialist, having recorded the Transcendental Studies and his First Concerto.

NB Mahler Symphony No 6 will be performed with the middle movements as Scherzo followed by Andante.
