LSO Discovery Day: Hector Berlioz
Find out more about the life and music of Hector Berlioz with access to an LSO rehearsal and a chamber music session with musicians from the Guildhall School.
10am-1pm, Barbican Hall
Join Valery Gergiev in rehearsal of Berlioz’ monumental Damnation of Faust with the LSO, LSC and soloists Olga Borodina, Michael Spyres, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Florian Boesch.
Unlike our Open Rehearsals, as part of the Discovery Day experience, audience members have the opportunity to observe the conductor and Orchestra from the Stalls, giving a unique and more intimate insight into the workings of an LSO rehearsal.*

The afternoon will begin with a presentation on the life and work of Hector Berlioz with a Q&A to finish. This will be followed by a performance of Berlioz Song Cycle Les Nuits d’été by Guildhall musicians Magdalena Molendowska soprano and Maria Levandovskaya piano.
