Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski, a former BBC New Generation Artist, is well-known to British audiences. Under the baton of Glyndebourne’s new Music Director, Robin Ticciati, he plays Ravel’s exquisite G major Concerto in between a recent piece for chamber orchestra by Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa inspired by the lotus, the symbolic flower of Buddhism, and Mahler’s great Fourth Symphony, in which the LSO is joined by mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill for the hymn-like finale 'The Heavenly Life.
