Danse sacrée et danse profane was originally composed to showcase the newly developed chromatic harp. Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins is a satirical ballet chanté (sung ballet) with libretto by Bertolt Brecht that tells the story of the split personality of two sisters – Anna I, a singer, and Anna II, a dancer. Debussy’s impressionistic En blanc et noir (In white and black) was originally composed for two pianos, while La mer is an ambient, rich depiction of the ever-changing face of the sea.
DIE SIEBEN TODSÜNDEN (Seven Deadly Sins)
Ballet chanté in nine scenes
Music by Kurt Weill
