Scout London Offer: LSO Futures

9-13 April 2013, Barbican and LSO St Luke's

A week of contemporary classical sounds and cutting edge new music at the Barbican and LSO St Luke’s, presented from every angle and on every scale – from intimate club to full-on symphonic experience.

Celebrating the music of young writers supported by the Orchestra, LSO Futures is focused around two concerts placing today’s dynamic music against the backdrop of ground-breaking 20th-century classics that continue to influence and inspire.

Beyond the premieres and concert hall events are opportunities to glimpse behind the scenes through artist conversations and workshops, plus music in the more relaxed settings of a post-concert clubstage and Eclectica at LSO St Luke’s.

The LSO has established a reputation for its support of emerging composers through its Panufnik Young Composers Scheme; LSO Soundhub, the new composer initiative based at LSO St Luke’s; and previously the UBS Sound Adventures and UBS Soundscapes: Pioneers schemes.

LSO Futures throws the doors to these initiatives open, showcasing both the music of the future and the minds behind it – in the words of François-Xavier Roth, an ‘homage to modernity, to new ways, and to creation’, a celebration of music in the 21st-century.
