Simon Halsey

In the run up to the performance of Brahms Requiem on 24 May, the LSO's Choral Director runs a workshop on the music that inspired it: including a Schütz setting of one of the Brahms Requiem texts, a Handel fugue, a Bach chorale and an early Brahms motet.

SCHÜTZ 'Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen' - SVW 029
BRAHMS Requiem Movt 4 'Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen'
HANDEL 'Worthy is the Lamb' and the final Amen from Messiah
BACH 'O sacred head sore wounded' from the St Matthew Passion
BRAHMS Op 110 No 2, 'Ach, arme Welt'

Whether you sing in a local choir, or haven’t sung since school, this is an exciting opportunity to rediscover your hobby.

The day will be accompanied by piano. Some sight-singing ability is required.
