My aunt sang in choirs in North Wales. I went to see The Dream of Gerontius and there wasn’t room for the harp on the stage. I was flabbergasted and realised it was the sound I’d heard on the TV programme Bewitched when I was 16. That was it, I was obsessed.

Bryn Lewis has been Principal Harp with the LSO since 1994, previously being with the Philharmonia Orchestra. As a guest he has played with all the London orchestras, COE, Leipzig Gewandhaus and Berlin Philharmonic. As soloist Bryn has appeared frequently in the UK and internationally with the LSO, Philharmonia, COE, Nash and Hebrides Ensembles, London Sinfonietta, Northern Sinfonia, and has premiered solo works by Elliot Carter, Robin Holloway and Dimitri Smirnov.

In 2009 he was soloist at the Vienna Konzerthaus in Debussy’s Danses with Valery Gergiev and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. Recordings include Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto with Giussepe Sinopoli, Kenneth Smith and the Philharmonia; Debussy with Marisa Robles and the Nash; a collection of Britten’s Folk Songs and recently Jaques Ibert’s trio for Violin, Cello and Harp. Bryn has studied with Jean Bell and Renata Scheffel-Stein. He is a keen cyclist, yogi, cook and traveller.
