Joe Melvin was born in London and started playing the double bass at the age of nine. He went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music before becoming a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2013. A year later he joined the LSO. Joe has worked with many orchestras both in the UK and abroad, and has performed in prestigious concert halls all over the world. He is also a keen chamber musician and enjoys coaching at the Guildhall School. Joe plays on a William Tarr bass from 1854.
