‘I started to play the violin at age seven. After I moved with my parents to the US when I was eleven, I always wanted to come back to live and play in the UK. The LSO was always my dream job.’
Louise Shackelton joined the LSO in 2001, after seven years as Co-Principal Second Violin with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle. She was a Board member of the LSO from 2003–07. Louise is passionate about the power of music to lift spirits and bring people together, and has been involved in music education with both the LSO and the CBSO, teaching and performing in innovative music education programmes in inner city schools. Louise gained degrees in music from Northwestern University, Chicago, and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
