Nikita Burzanitsa

Mykyta (Nikita) was born into a family of musicians in Donetsk, Ukraine. He began playing the piano at the age of seven, studying under Professor Nataliya Chesnokova. In 2008 he joined a special music school for gifted children in Donetsk, and in 2015 received a full scholarship to Wells Cathedral School, studying under John Byrne.
In 2017 he received a full scholarship to study at Donetsk State Conservatory in Ukraine, and a double scholarship (including the Milstein Medal) at the Royal College of Music in London, supported by International Students House. In 2020 he began studying with Dmitrii Alexeev at the Royal College of Music. In addition to the support of an LSO Conservatoire Scholarship, he has received support from Talent Unlimited, the Piano Charitable Trust, the Drake Calleja Trust, and the ABRSM Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship. In 2023 Nikita received a full scholarship to study an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music under Dmitri Alexeev.
Competition successes have included winning the Wells Concerto Competition in 2017; first prize in the London International Piano and Music Competition in 2017; Sevenoaks Young Musician of the Year in 2020; winning the Kendall Taylor Beethoven Piano Competition in 2021; winning the ‘Virtuoso’ category at the Vienna Music Competition in 2021; and winning the BPSE Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition in London 2022.
Nikita has given solo recitals in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, France, Belgium, Italy and the United Kingdom; and has taken part in masterclasses with Dmytro Suhovienko, Andrey Ivanovich, John Byrne, Ian Jones, Steven Hough, Vanessa Lotarche, Mitsuko Uchida, Barry Douglas, Boris Berman, Vovka Ashkenazy and Miguel Angel Shebba.
