Radu-Gabriel Stoica
Piano, Royal College of Music
Born in Alexandria, Southern Romania, Radu-Gabriel Stoica started studying the piano at the age of seven. He is a C Bechstein scholar, supported by Mr Lewis, studying Masters in Performance at the Royal College of Music in London, under the tutelage of Ian Jones, Dmitry Alexeev, and Dorian Leljak.
In 2012, Radu moved to Bucharest to continue his studies at the National College of Arts, ‘Dinu Lipatti’, under Elena Petrenco. Then, in 2018, he began his studies at The Purcell School of Young Musicians, under Tatiana Sarkissova. From 2020 to 2024, he completed his bachelor’s degree at the Royal College of Music, studying with Ian Jones and Dinara Klinton. He has also participated in masterclasses with Walter Krafft, Ippazio Ponzetta, Maria Masycheva, Georgy Gromov, Elizabeth Sombart, Lea Yoanna Adam, Graeme McNaught, Till Felner, Wei-Yi Yang, Yejin Gil, Alexey Chernov and Piotr Paleczny.
He has won many national and international competitions, such as the National Olimpiad, Nice International Piano Competition, International Piano Competition Tudor Dumitrescu, Millenium, Craiova Piano, 2nd Prize in the ‘Joan Chissell’ Piano Competition, as well as 1st Prize at the ‘Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition’ held in Bacau, Romania. Radu has also been invited to play in many recitals and concerts in Romania, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. He has performed in venues including St Martin-in-the-Fields, Wigmore Hall, Burg Namedy, Benslow Music, Stanborough Park Church, the Austrian Cultural Forum, St Mary Abbots Church, and the Romanian Athenaeum.
