‘I always wanted to play the violin in an orchestra right from early childhood.’

Sylvain Vasseur joined the European Union Youth Orchestra in 1978, playing with Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel and Herbert von Karajan, after studies in native France. He successively joined the BBC Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also freelanced regularly with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe over the years. Sylvain joined the LSO in 1992.
