Sign ups are open now for young people aged 8 to 18 to join the LSO Discovery Choirs for the 2023/24 academic year.
The LSO Discovery Choirs are an opportunity for young people of all abilities to experience the joy of singing and making music together as a group. Regular rehearsals on Mondays during term time are designed to be fun, friendly and educational, and build towards the Choirs’ own termly concerts in front of an audience of family and friends.
The Choirs are split into two age groups, who rehearse separately, and perform in the same concerts. Rehearsals are currently led by Lucy Hollins, a conductor, presenter, writer and animateur who is passionate about opening up opportunities for everyone to experience the transformative power of music. She is also Creative Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, among other roles.
Junior Choir
Ages 8 to 11, School Years 4 to 6
- For children who live or go to school in Hackney, Islington or the City
- Rehearsals: Mondays 4–5pm during term time at LSO St Luke’s, Old Street
- Cost: £55 for the full 2023/24 academic year
If you have any concerns about cost, please get in touch. We do not want cost to act as a barrier for access to the activity.
Senior Choir
Ages 11 to 18, School Years 7 to 13
- For children who live or go to school in any London borough
- Rehearsals: Mondays 5.15–6.30pm during term time at LSO St Luke’s, Old Street
- Cost: £55 for the full 2023/24 academic year
In our sessions we regularly discuss the reasons we love to come to choir, be it for relaxing, taking our minds from other things, or to bring up our moods. Complete the online form to sign your child up to take part. There are no auditions – the Choirs are open to all abilities.
Please submit one completed form for each young person interested in joining the Choirs. We will be back in touch in August to confirm your child’s place in the Choirs.
