Workshops for Under-5s

Interactive, creative and fun, our ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ music workshops for under-5s are a great way to introduce little ones to the world of music-making. Move and grove along to new sounds and songs, and get up close to the instruments of the orchestra.

Whilst our usual location, LSO St Luke’s, is closed for capital works during the Spring and Summer 2025, weekly workshop sessions will take place on Friday mornings at Golden Lane Community Centre. There are separate sessions for children aged 18 months and under, 3 years and under, and 5 years and under.

The next available workshops take place across a six-week series. Booking is now open for the workshop series starting 9 May led by Vanessa King.

It was great to have music and singing as a support for the early months of parenthood. The songs we learned together have become an important part of our daily life.

[The sessions had] a huge impact on our well-being – they started our week off in such a joyful way. It was an important time for both of us.

How to Apply

Applications are now open for the next six-week workshop series, starting 9 May, led by Vanessa King.

9, 16, 23 May 
(Break for Half Term – no session on 30 May) 
6, 13, 20 June 
 
Workshop times: 
9.30am–10.15am: 5 years and under 
10.30am–11.15am: 3 years and under 
11.30am–12.15pm: 18 months and under 
(These ages are approximate) 

Application deadline: Friday 28 March, 10am

Please complete the form below to apply. We will let you know by the end of day on Monday 4 April if you have been allocated a place. You will be asked to confirm your place via a short online form by 4pm on Friday 18 April.  

We operate a lottery booking system, choosing applicants at random for each age group. Priority is given to those who have applied for the previous two consecutive terms but were not successful in obtaining a place.

What’s Included

• Six weekly workshop sessions
• Individual attention for each child, as well as whole group activities, with no more that 15 family groups per workshop 
• Activities to facilitate creativity, expression, connection and parental bonding 

Cost: £72 per six sessions

Subsidised Community Places

There are a limited number of subsidised community places available, intended for families who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend these workshops. 

Subsidies are normally offered at a 50% reduction (£36), the remaining balance to be paid ahead of the start of the term. We are happy to discuss payment options that would support you to attend.
