Workshops for Under-5s
Interactive workshops introducing under-5s to the world of music-making.
Interactive, creative and fun, our ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ music workshops for under-5s are a great way to introduce little ones to the world of music-making. Move and groove along to new sounds and songs, and get up close to the instruments of the orchestra.
Weekly workshop sessions take place on Monday mornings at LSO St Luke’s, with separate sessions for children aged 18 months and under, 3 years and under, and 5 years and under.
It was great to have music and singing as a support for the early months of parenthood. The songs we learned together have become an important part of our daily life.
[The sessions had] a huge impact on our well-being – they started our week off in such a joyful way. It was an important time for both of us.
How to Apply
Applications for workshops in the Autumn 2024 term are currently open. Please complete the application form below by 10am on 26 July to apply. Applicants will be advised by end of day Friday 9 August if they have been allocated a place on the term or are being placed on the waiting list.
We operate a lottery booking system, choosing applicants at random for each age group once the application deadline has passed. Priority is given to those who have applied for the previous two consecutive terms but were not successful in obtaining a place.

What’s Included
- Ten weekly workshop sessions
- Individual attention for each child, as well as whole group activities, with no more that 15 family groups per workshop
- Activities to facilitate creativity, expression, connection and parental bonding
Cost: £120 per ten sessions
Subsidised Community Places
There are a limited number of subsidised community places available, intended for families who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend these workshops.
Subsidies are normally offered at a 50% reduction (£60), the remaining balance to be paid ahead of the start of the term. We are happy to discuss payment options that would support you to attend.

Please note that the workshops are running over the half term. Age ranges for sessions are an estimate. Participants are divided into groups based on ages of the children once applications close.
