When life is chaotic and full of noise, music can transport you to a place of tranquillity and peacefulness. That’s why at 2.15pm each day on Scala Radio, I take the chance to enjoy a Mindfulness Moment, as we indulge in the meditative nature of music.
Throughout history, music has played an important role in helping us find those moments of calm, whether it’s for prayer, meditation or in our yoga practices. Classical music can trigger many emotions, but one of the most profound is its ability to relax and soothe.
That’s why I have put together this Music for Mindfulness Playlist of music recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra which gives you a taster of the music you can expect to hear in my Scala Radio show. I especially love the luscious, cinematic strings in For the Love of a Princess from Braveheart and the delicate, mystical opening to The Danish Girl by Alexandre Desplat. For gorgeous romanticism, listen to the third movement of Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.2 and for something more modern, immerse yourself in Gjeilo’s Serenity – the title says it all.
