On Wednesday 24 August we embark upon a tour of Europe's summer music festivals with our new Principal Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda.
Over three weeks we will be visiting six different countries – Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic and Spain – to play 14 concerts at some of Europe's most picturesque summer festivals.
Starting at the Ljubljana Festival on 24 August our programmes feature Wagner, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Haydn, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Verdi, Puccini, Debussy and Dvorák, before we head back to London to open the 2016/17 London season at the Barbican Centre on Sunday 18 September with Noseda and the London Symphony Chorus performing Verdi Requiem.
You can also follow some of our musicians who tweet regularly: violinist Maxine Kwok-Adams, Principal Flute Gareth Davies, percussionist David Jackson, violist German Clavijo, violinist Sarah Quinn, Principal Percussion Neil Percy, Co-Principal Trombone Peter Moore, Principal Bassoon Dan Jemison, violist Lander Echevarria and our Stage & Transport Manager Alan Goode.
See you soon London!
