Obituary: Dvora Lewis

The LSO is saddened to hear of the death of Dvora Lewis on 17 November. Dvora was the Orchestra's PR for 37 years until her retirement in 2015. On her retirement she was made an Honorary Member of the LSO, a mark of distinction awarded by the members of the Orchestra to recognise distinguished service over an extended period of time.

£1.5 million donation kick starts London Symphony Orchestra's Always Playing Appeal

A £1.5 million donation from Elena and Alex Gerko, founder of XTX Markets, launches the London Symphony Orchestra’s investment appeal to sustain the next chapter in its 118 year-old history. This generous gift to the LSO offers seed funding to the Always Playing Appeal, which aims to raise a minimum of £5 million before summer 2021.

Identical twins among the 20 young conductors to compete in the 16th Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition

Twenty of Europe’s most talented young conductors have been selected to compete in the 16th Donatella Flick Conducting Competition from 27 February – 1 March 2021 in London. Presented every two years, in partnership with the London Symphony Orchestra [LSO], the Competition was founded in 1990 by Donatella Flick and is marking its 30th anniversary.
