A tribute to James Horner


The London Symphony Orchestra is sad to hear of the death of one of its long-time collaborators, the film composer James Horner.

The Orchestra's relationship with Horner began in the early 1980s with the score to Peter Yates' Krull, and continued for over 20 years. The list of films we collaborated on includes Aliens, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Legends of the Fall and the 1995 Mel Gibson epic, Braveheart, many of which were nominated for, and won, Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys and BAFTAs.

SIR PETER MAXWELL DAVIES’ SYMPHONY NO 10, COMMISSIONED & PREMIERED BY THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, WINS SOUTH BANK SKY ARTS AWARD

Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ Symphony No 10, which was commissioned and given its world premiere by the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sir Antonio Pappano, has won a prestigious South Bank Sky Arts award in the Classical category. The award was presented to Sir Peter today by violinist Tasmin Little at a ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel, hosted by Melvyn Bragg.
