Lord Mayor's Appeal to benefit thousands of young musicians through the LSO
The new Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley, has announced that his charitable appeal for 2017 will benefit thousands of young musicians through the London Symphony Orchestra [LSO] Discovery programme.
The LSO is saddened to hear of the death on Friday 11 November 2016 of George Reynolds. George was a valued member of the LSO Trumpet section from 1963 to 1978 during which time he travelled with the Orchestra all over the world including on the Diamond Jubilee World Tour in 1964.
The London Symphony Orchestra is saddened to hear of the death of Sir Neville Marriner who passed away on 2 October 2016 at the age of 92. Originally a violinist, Sir Neville went on to found the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and a number of other chamber orchestras around the world, becoming one of this country’s most highly regarded conductors.
