Simon Halsey awarded The Queen's Medal for Music

We are delighted that LSO Choral Director Simon Halsey has been awarded Her Majesty’s Medal for Music 2014 by Her Majesty The Queen.

The prize, established in 2005, is awarded to an outstanding individual or group of musicians who have had a major influence on the musical life of the nation.

Final Symphony: available to download


Monday 23 February 2015 sees the release of the long awaited album Final Symphony: Nobuo Uematsu's music from the video games Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X in new arrangements by Masashi Hamauzu, Jonne Valtonen and Roger Wanamo.

Welcome to new members


Two new members of the LSO have joined us so far in 2015: Alexander Edmundson, joining the Horn section, and Daniel Newell, joining the trumpet section. Both have the title of Co-Principal (No 3) in their respective sections, and join their colleagues Tim Jones, Angela Barnes and Jonathan Lipton (horns) and Philip Cobb and Gerry Ruddock (trumpets).
