London Symphony Orchestra receives funding in the second round of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund

A statement from Kathryn McDowell, Managing Director London Symphony Orchestra following the announcement of the second round of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund:

“The London Symphony Orchestra has received a grant of £423,000 from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund to help the organisation during this period of re-emergence from the pandemic. We are very grateful for this second grant of emergency funding from Arts Council England. All these funds will go directly to supporting the Members of the Orchestra, and presenting concerts from 1 April – 30 June 2021. We are beginning to implement plans for our first concert with live socially distanced audiences scheduled to take place in the Barbican on Tuesday 18 May. However, it is going to take a very long time to get back to anything close to normal levels of activity or streams of income from box office or touring fees, so this funding is important in the short-term.”
