Obituary: John Stenhouse (1942–2016)

The LSO was sad to hear of the death of former Principal Bass Clarinet John Stenhouse on 28 August 2016 at the age of 74.

As a clarinettist and professor at Trinity College of Music, John began his career in the BBC and English National Opera. He played as a freelance musician with all the major orchestras and ensembles before joining the LSO as an Associate Member. He became a full member of the Orchestra in 1993, becoming Principal Bass Clarinet from 2005. He retired from the Orchestra in 2007.

John was a much loved character in the musical world and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. We send our thoughts to his family and friends.
