The London Symphony Orchestra today launches its 2023/24 season at London’s Barbican Centre and LSO St Luke’s. An ambitious series of concerts is presented featuring the LSO’s growing family of conductors and guest soloists.
Highlights include:
- Barbara Hannigan, Associate Artist conducts the opening concerts of the season at the Barbican.
- Sir Antonio Pappano, Chief Conductor Designate conducts 11 concerts.
- Sir Simon Rattle, Conductor Emeritus continues his series of Janáček’s with Jenůfa.
- 4 world premieres including new works by Hannah Kendall and John Adams.
- LSO perform 21st -century works by Thomas Adès, George Benjamin, Jörg Widmann, and Sally Beamish.
- Guest pianists Kirill Gerstein, Alice Sara Ott, Simon Trpčeski, Leif Ove Andsnes, plus the subject of an Artist Portrait Bertrand Chamayou.
- New series of concerts celebrating the LSO’s contribution to film.
- Andrej Power and Benjamin Gilmore were appointed as Leaders.
