Glasgow born and bred, Robert Allan (b. 1994) is a final year undergraduate at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying piano with Sinae Lee and Aaron Shorr and composition with Stuart MacRae.
Having commenced piano lessons at the age of seven, he went on to complete a diploma from Trinity College, London while still at school. Recent competition successes include being finalist in both the RCS’s Concerto and Bach competitions.
As a pianist, he has played with ensembles including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Red Note Ensemble under conductors including Garry Walker and Jessica Cottis, and with soloists including Nicola Benedetti. He was also recently appointed Associate Accompanist with the National Youth Choir of Scotland.
His recent compositions have also been praised for their “clarity and sonic inventiveness” (The Scotsman) and hailed as “exquisite… a real gem” (The Herald).
