Support the LSO today and help the next generation of musicians

Please donate to the LSO Discovery Appeal 2019 - changing life stories through music

LSO Discovery, the Orchestra’s ground-breaking education and community programme, shares music with over 60,000 people each year. Based at LSO St Luke’s on Old Street, the programme works at a grass-roots level ;throughout East London, providing inspiring musical experiences to people of all ages and backgrounds.

On 6 June 2019, LSO Discovery celebrates the achievements of another year’s activity in our annual Showcase concert. Performing alongside LSO musicians, ‘One Night, One Thousand and One Stories’ will see Discovery participants performing a programme inspired by the stories of Scheherazade; of cold, dusty nights on the Silk Road and storms on the Arabian sea. Telling these stories in music will be the Senior Discovery Choir, the Digital Technology Group, LSO Create – an ensemble of adults with learning disabilities - and Next Generation, 50 young instrumentalists from East London.

What’s the story behind your passion for music? Like many classical music lovers, perhaps a particular piece or performance captured your attention and fired your interest. More broadly, our life stories are often determined by the opportunities we enjoy. LSO Discovery uses the power of music to change life stories and share all the benefits of making music as widely as possible.

This vital area of the Orchestra’s work can only continue thanks to the generosity of our supporters. As we celebrate another successful year of education and community involvement, and look ahead to changing yet more life stories through music, we hope you will consider pledging a donation towards LSO Discovery.
