The Engegård Quartet plays Mozart’s ‘Dissonance’ and Haydn’s ‘Sunrise’ Quartet: a bold new perspective on music that never gets old.

The Programme

A melody soars upwards out of darkness, like the arc of the rising sun. Four instruments inch out of the shadows, creating rich, strange harmonies decades ahead of their time. Mozart and Haydn never wrote a dull note, and today our celebration of their friendship finds both their imaginations operating at full power: in Haydn’s beloved ‘Sunrise’ Quartet, and Mozart’s visionary Quartet K 465.

The Performers

Known for their bold interpretations of classical repertoire, the Engegård Quartet are well equipped to bring two of the greatest (and best-loved) of all string quartets to life.

My language is understood throughout the world – Joseph Haydn
