DANIEL KIDANE Foreign Tongues
NA'AMA ZISSER Empty Orchestra (Kara-oke)
Darren Bloom conductor
LSO Soundhub provides a flexible space where composers can explore, collaborate and experiment. This concert is a chance to meet Daniel Kidane and Na’ama Zisser who have spent their first year of Soundhub membership pushing their work in unexpected directions.
The concert brings together an eclectic mix of new music – including pieces that feature karaoke (Na'ama Zisser) to works that seek to reinvent the string quartet (Daniel Kidane). Come and listen to some of the most exciting sounds accompanied by immersive visuals, coming from the UK’s newest generation of composers.
Foreign Tongues is envisaged as a work where the cellist Pei-Jee Ng is pitted against the rest of the string quartet. It explores the idea of multiculturalism through the interaction of differing languages. The premiere performance will be accompanied with immersive visuals by Mark Pilkington, which will be live coded during the concert.
This event also features the work of Na’ama Zisser. 'Empty Orchestra (Kara-oke)' is her new contemporary classical work featuring live karaoke. Na'ama's piece will feature live visuals/art direction by Tim & Barry and creative technology by Arthur Carabott.
