A frequent and popular performer with the LSO at the Barbican, Russian-born violinist Alina Ibragimova is both a former winner of the LSO Music Scholarship, and a former BBC New Generation Artist. This penultimate programme in the International Violin Festival, under Bernard Haitink, couples Mozart’s genial Third Concerto, known as the 'Strassburg' from its use of a popular German folk tune, with Mahler’s First Symphony, indubitably titanic in scale, and shot through with Austrian folk melodies.
