The exciting young Austrian pianist Ingolf Wunder launches a four-concert series celebrating the music of Chopin, Liszt and Bartók.
This series of BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts features masterpieces by three of the greatest composers ever to be born in eastern Europe. Liszt loved the music of Chopin, and the two composers even gave joint concerts. Liszt in his turn influenced the music of his fellow Hungarian Bartók.
Ingolf Wunder won three prizes at the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and is mentored by the great Polish pianist Adam Harasiewicz. He is also a winner of the Liszt Prize in Budapest. 'Wunder has a way of capturing an audience's attention with poetry and emotion,' wrote critic John Allison of Wunder's Chopin playing in Warsaw.
