Maria João Pires and Ashot Khachatourian play Chopin, Liszt and Bartók.

Pianist Maria João Pires, one of the world's greatest interpreters of Chopin, is a favourite with LSO audiences. In her Partitura project at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium she mentors exceptionally gifted young pianists from around the world, including Armenian-born Ashot Khachatourian, whom she describes as 'a talent without borders – a real musician'.

This closing concert of the BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert series celebrating Chopin, Liszt and Bartók will include solo Chopin from Pires, solo Liszt from Khachatourian, and music for featuring both pianists at one keyboard.
