An open rehearsal with talks and more to celebrate Steve Reich's 80th birthday: an open rehearsal, Steve Reich in discussion, the UK premiere of Piano Counterpoint (Six Pianos – arranged for piano solo) plus a performance of New York Counterpoint.
The event begins at the Barbican Centre at 11am and moves to LSO St Luke's for the afternoon session.

Watch the LSO in rehearsal from the circle with conductor Kristjan Järvi and Synergy Vocals, in preparation for the evening performance of Steve Reich’s Daniel Variations, You Are (Variations) and The Desert Music.
3.30pm–5.30pm, LSO St Luke’s
The afternoon will begin with Steve Reich’s New York Counterpoint performed by LSO clarinettist Chi Yu Mo. Broadcaster Sara Mohr-Pietsch will discuss the piece with Steve Reich and Chi Yu Mo, before talking to the composer about his life and work in more depth followed by questions from the audience. After a break, the panel will be joined by pianist Vincent Corver to discuss his arrangement for piano solo of Reich’s Six Pianos, before we close the day with its European premiere performed by Vincent Corver.

Change of Start Time
The start time of this event has changed from 10am to 11am, to accommodate a change in time to the LSO’s morning rehearsal. The morning rehearsal will run from 11am–2pm, followed by a lunch break. The afternoon session at LSO St Luke’s will now begin at 3.30pm.
