One of the most inventive and exciting Jazz musicians to appear onto the European scene in recent years, Norwegian composer and saxophonist Marius Neset leads an orchestral performance of music from his forthcoming new album.
Inspired by artists as diverse as Django Bates and Edvard Grieg, Neset’s music draws on a wide palette of sounds, complementing his own sax playing with all manner of brass, strings and percussion to create dense pieces bursting with ideas. Here the dymanics and harmonic layers in his music are fully realised live, performed by the 19-piece London Sinfionetta, joined by a Jazz quartet with Neset at their helm.
‘Neset’s music has an infectious energy and a harmonic dynamism which is very different, and hugely refreshing’ Telegraph
‘Neset delivers strong emotions with breathtaking fluency… an epic of collective interplay, elegiac moods and disciplined, high-octane fury’ Financial Times
