Part of Barbican Presents

Part of the 2016/17 season

Three great singers of our time, each famed for their operatic roles, join forces for an evening of Wagner’s vocal music under the Music Director of the Royal Opera House, Sir Antonio Pappano.

Wagner’s work carries almost legendary status, with his own private life almost as tumultuous as the music and poetry he wrote. From Tristan and Isolde, sometimes described as the start of modern music, through the Lieder set to the poetry of his alleged lover Mathilde Wesendonck, to the first act of the second instalment of the epic Ring Cycle, the music is enchanting, rich, powerful, ground-breaking and never less than dramatic.
