The LSO Discovery Showcase explores the influence of music from the East, with performances of traditional Balinese music by the LSO Community Gamelan Group and a specially arranged piece by Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian for Gamelan and strings. Fifty young musicians from East London perform the world premiere of Crimson River by Howard Moody inspired by Romanian folk music, side-by-side with the LSO. The LSO also plays Kodály's exhilarating Dances of Galanta, and sensual music by French composers influenced by the gamelan, in this celebration of the meeting of different cultures.
6.45pm LSO On Track Takeover
Talented young musicians from East London come together to present an unforgettable performance in the Barbican Centre’s unique foyer spaces, produced with the LSO On Track Music Education Hub partnership.
