Spend the day exploring the legend of Faust and join in behind-the-scenes activities looking at what goes in to making an opera.
The dark, intriguing tale of Faust – a man who sells his soul in exchange for knowledge and happiness – has captured imaginations for centuries. Get inspired by the legend at this workshop, as we bring the story to life through movement and singing.
Led by opera experts Tim Yealland and Rachel Leach, and drawing on French composer Berlioz’s own powerful interpretation, you’ll create your own opera scenes, followed by a sharing session and an informal performance by musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra.
You can also learn some hands-on tricks of the trade from the professionals who make operas look so spectacular on-stage, including make-up artists and set designers, and have a go yourself. Everyone over the age of eight is welcome – the day is designed for families, but it’s also suitable for adults without children, and you don’t need any prior experience to take part!
Suitable for everyone over the age of 8.
Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
