Part of the 2017/18 season
The brilliant young Scottish composer Helen Grime will not forget the arrival of Sir Simon Rattle in a hurry, with her Barbican-commissioned Fanfare receiving the honour of being the first piece conducted by Sir Simon as LSO Music Director.
In her personally curated concert, Helen places more of her own richly imagined music amidst works by the composers who helped shape her own artistic DNA. So alongside Purcell, Britten and Stravinsky there are many living friends and inspirations, with lovingly crafted works by Oliver Knussen, Thomas Adès, George Benjamin and Colin Matthews to be performed by Barbican Associate Ensemble the Britten Sinfonia.
