The extraordinary Polish ensemble Meccore bring our Czech Roots series to a rioutous close, exploring Janáček's String Quartet No 1, 'Kreutzer Sonata'. Wild, rhythmic and rich, this is Janáček at his most daring and free-spirited.

Running parallel to Sir Simon Rattle's exploration of Czech music, and the folk traditions behind it, with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican, this series of BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts at LSO St Luke's takes a look at solo and chamber music by Czech composers.

Change of programme
Please note that the Meccore Quartet will perform Janácek's String Quartet No 1 'Kreutzer Sonata' instead of String Quartet No 2 'Intimate Letters' as was printed in some early listings.

Recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3
