LSO Soundhub offers composers a flexible environment to explore, collaborate and experiment, and this annual showcase gives an opportunity to hear what the four 2018/2019 Phase I composers have been working on in the last year. Experience, what will you?
Light installations (Ben Zamora) and theatrics collide as the music in Jamie Man’s Outrenoir II: Appetitus (2019) whispers to the audience in the dark. Hear and feel the presence of the Other emerge from the dark canvas, resonating through sexual energy and physiological afterimages.*
Donal Sarsfield’s Off White paints a series of sweeping diatonic lines into unison as they converse, yet ever so often dip into musical soliloquy.
Feel the energy of Zen Buddhist symbolism radiate throughout Keting Sun’s Ensō as musicians and a dancer (Huang Xiao) emulsify into a fluid of movement and sound. As you transcend, the dancer performs with ink, visibly expelling the flow of the music into the universe.
Cultures, Ideas, Imagination – Alex Ho's Spiralling Scrolls explores identity through literal and abstract distances as Western and Chinese instruments push and pull against each other in a search for resolution.
