Escape the rush hour with the LSO and one of the greatest violinists of our time. Isabelle Faust performs Bartók’s sultry Second Violin Concerto.
‘Where other violinists dazzle, Faust is a thinker,’ said The Guardian, but if that makes her sounds understated, think again, as she applies mind, soul and jaw-dropping skill to Bartók’s ferocious concerto, inspired by the composer’s lifelong fascination with Hungarian folksong.
The LSO’s Principal Guest Conductor François-Xavier Roth opens with a flourish: Intégrales, a stunning sculpture in sound from the great French sonic adventurer Edgard Varèse.
This concert is part of Half Six Fix, a different way to experience the LSO, with an introduction to the music from François-Xavier Roth, and digital programme notes on your phone or device. Grab a drink, take your seat and enjoy the music.
