In tandem with his Artist Portrait series with the LSO, the charismatic viola soloist Antoine Tamestit curates a complementary chamber music series with a cast of his closest musical friends.
Antoine Tamestit is joined by the daring and dynamic percussionist Colin Currie. Together they embark on a programme of exciting contemporary chamber music. Their performance begins with solo pieces for viola and percussion with Murail’s C’est un jardin secret...and Tansy Davies’ Dark Ground. Then follows Carter’s virtuosic Figments which showcases some technical string playing and the resonance of the marimba.
For the final half of the programme the duo perform Bethan Morgan-Williams' World Premiere Dog in the Moon. The concert closes with Berio’s Naturale which is inspired by Sicilian folk melodies and even includes the voice recording of a Sicilian folk singer.
