Hear a musical conversation between Lucie Horsch, the ‘latest big thing in recorder playing’ (Guardian) and lutenist Thomas Dunford, as they showcase the versatility of their instruments.

It’s the instrument we’ve all tried but few have mastered. Lucie Horsch is one of those few, and she and Dunford take you on an often intimate, sometimes exuberant journey around Baroque and contemporary Europe, from their home countries of the Netherlands and France, via Germany, England and Italy. Taking the recorder further than you’ve ever heard it before, Horsch and Dunford play their arrangements of Bach’s Suite in C minor for lute, and Marin Marais’ piece for viol, Couplets de Folies, as well as a new commission by Lotta Wennäkoski.

At just 22 years old Horsch’s talent has already been firmly recognised. She was a 2020 winner of the prestigious Dutch Music Award, and now adds 2021/22 ECHO Rising Star to her list of accolades. She finds a perfect recital partner in Thomas Dunford, the ‘Eric Clapton of the lute’ (Badische Zeitung).

The majority of our seats are no longer socially-distanced, however some rows of seats in the stalls remain configured in socially-distanced singles and pairs, for those that would prefer to use them. All seats are unallocated – you may book for stalls or balcony, and are then free to sit wherever you wish.

Following the recent Government guidance, all visitors must wear a face covering as a condition of entry, unless exempt or under 12.

Visitors are not currently required to present an NHS Covid pass or proof of a negative Covid test result, but you are strongly encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending while infection rates are still high.
