The Concert

Two portraits from the musical prodigy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – plus Berlioz’s most rock’n’roll work, the Symphonie fantastique.

The Music

Mozart not only composed his Violin Concerto No 5 at the age of only 19, but it was the fifth he had written within nine months. It travels from elegant start to graceful slow movement, with some remarkable instrumental effects in the finale.

Berlioz was always in thrall to one craze or other. His Symphonie fantastique being one of his most iconic pieces of work, tells the story of an artist’s self-destructive passion for a beautiful woman.

The Performers

Lisa Batiashvili is the perfect partner for Mozart’s elegant Concerto, while Sir Antonio Pappano and the LSO bring out every twist and turn in Berlioz’s imagination.
