The Concert
Three exceptional young conductors compete for a £15,000 prize and the chance to become LSO Assistant Conductor for a year.
The Performers
The Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competiton, created by Donatella Flick in 1990, aims to help a young conductor to establish an international conducting career, bridging the gap between conservatoire training and professional life.
Over two days of competition, twenty shortlisted conductors from across Europe are whittled down to just three, to appear in the Final in front of the London Symphony Orchestra. The successful winner will then go on to have the opportunity to work with the Orchestra and its Chief and guest conductors on the preparation of concerts, take part in the LSO’s education programme and accompany the Orchestra on tour.
